Shelby, a graduate of Medicine Hat College, understands firsthand the importance of building meaningful connections with instructors. She recognizes that a supportive learning environment fosters comfort and engagement.
In the classroom, Shelby is committed to creating a safe space for learning, balancing professionalism with a sense of humor. She embraces the concept of lifelong learning, viewing herself as an ongoing learner, and enriches her teaching by sharing practical nursing experiences that extend beyond textbook knowledge.
She believes that effective communication and professionalism are foundational to nursing and feels privileged to impart these essential principles to future nurses. Shelby takes great pride in witnessing her students' growth and development, finding immense fulfillment in helping them gain confidence in their knowledge, skills, and self-worth.
Outside of her teaching role, Shelby has spent the past nine years as an all-star cheerleading coach. This passion for coaching inspired her transition into education and continues to influence her teaching approach, as she integrates physical activity into her curriculum whenever possible.
