Medicine Hat College is seeking an innovative and dedicated candidate for a contract position focused on supporting Medicine Hat College faculty, staff, and students in the understanding and use of Gen AI in post-secondary teaching and learning. The duration of this contract will be January 2025 to April 2025, with the possibility of an extension, and will require approximately 25 hours of commitment per month.
A little about the role:
Working closely with the Director, Teaching and Learning, the priority for this position will be to empower the college community to effectively integrate Gen AI tools into their academic and administrative practices, and enhance teaching methodologies, responsible student engagement, and operational efficiency.
Rate of Pay: $5000.00, plus vacation pay, for the term.
Major Responsibilities:
- Research on Gen AI in Higher Education
- Conduct research on the implications, benefits, and challenges of integrating Gen AI into post-secondary teaching and learning environments.
- Explore current trends related to Gen AI in education.
- Collaborate with other educational institutions and experts in the field to gather data and share common practices.
- Workshop Training Facilitation and Online Resource Organization
- Design, organize, and facilitate two workshops in the Winter semester (between January and April) that address Gen AI topics relevant to faculty, staff, and students.
- Promote workshops and encourage participation from faculty, staff, and students.
- Create an online resource page, curate current Gen AI information, and upload resources to online page.
- College Community Engagement
- Actively engage with the college community, seeking input and feedback on Gen AI needs and initiatives.
- Participate in college committees/working groups focused on Gen AI teaching excellence and educational innovation.
Details:
- Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred.
- Ability to conduct research and facilitate faculty, staff and student workshops.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Familiarity and keen interest in Gen AI and its applications in higher education.
