A little about the role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Research Technician to join our team for a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate will provide technical support for various applied research projects involving 3D printing, motion capture, sensors, and drones. This role requires hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and the ability to work collaboratively with researchers and project teams.
The Research Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating drones for research purposes, including acquiring necessary approvals for flight. You will assist with the installation and setup of various sensor systems for data collection, as well as set up, operate, and calibrate 3D printers and motion capture systems. Ensuring proper maintenance of equipment and troubleshooting any issues will also be a key aspect of the role. You will collect and process drone data to meet project goals, ensuring high quality and accuracy. Additionally, you will assist with documenting project procedures, results, and findings, while working closely with the research team to ensure projects stay on track and all equipment functions as required.

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Adaptable and willing to learn new technologies as required for research.
Assets:
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing technologies and relevant software tools.
- Familiarity with motion capture systems, including hardware and software.
- Experience working with sensor integration (motion, temperature, pressure sensors, etc.).
- Previous experience with drone operations, including setup, flight, and data collection.
- An advanced drone pilot certificate.
- Familiarity with electronics, circuit boards, and basic robotics.
Appointment Term: 6-Month Contract
