Medicine Hat College invites applications from full-time, regular faculty for a Chair of Health position in the School of Health and Community Services. The Chair will work in collaboration with the Dean and the School to establish and implement program and school goals and objectives that align with college strategy and the academic plan.
A little about the role:
This position is important in school planning and goal setting. It is also instrumental in managing the work of faculty and staff in the department including, but not limited to, recruitment and retention of staff and students, teaching and learning, training, development, succession planning, orientation, mentoring, team building, addressing issues, monitoring academic performance and success of students, completing performance evaluations and providing day-to-day leadership. This position will also consult with faculty to ensure program currency and integrity of content and delivery, making recommendations and providing assistance, as needed.
Details:
- Preference will be given to full time regular, non-probationary faculty (normally within the school).
- Minimum Master’s in a Health or Health related field, however consideration may be given to those who are currently pursuing their Master's.
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively and make positive contributions as a team member, maintain confidentiality, and be able to manage sensitive situations.
- A commitment to student success.
The annual salary stipend for this position is: $10,000 in accordance with the faculty association collective agreement.
Term of Appointment: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028
