A little about the role:
Medicine Hat College invites applications from full-time, regular, non-probationary faculty for a Chair of Science position in the School of Arts, Science and Education. This position is responsible for day-to-day operations of all the program areas in science, aligned with the overall vision, strategy, parameters, and program resource allocations set by the Dean.
The Academic Chair is a vital communication channel between Faculty, Coordinators, Associate Dean and the Dean. Responsibilities include support in faculty hiring/onboarding, program quality assurance, workload, course scheduling, course/program changes, budget, program development, faculty support, student support, recruitment, professional development, research and scholarly activity, and participation with program and local advisory committees.
Details:
- Full time regular, non-probationary faculty (normally from within the school)
- Minimum Master’s degree in a related field, however consideration may be given to those who are currently pursuing their Master's
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
- The ability to work collaboratively and make positive contributions as a team member, maintain confidentiality, and be able to manage sensitive situations
- A commitment to student success
The annual salary stipend for this position is: $10,000 in accordance with the faculty association collective agreement.
Term of Appointment: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2028
