A little about the role:
This position is a team member of the ITS Development Services team and will primarily focus on the implementation, integration, maintenance, enhancement, security, training and support of all MHC information and database systems including but not limited to enterprise software and databases.
This position has key responsibilities in researching, planning, architecting, engineering, analysis, and support of all system integrations, automations, software development, process development and database development related to college enterprise, and database structures/systems.
This position may be eligible for our Flexible Work arrangement once the 12-month probationary period is completed.
Job Specific Competencies, Skills & Abilities
Programmer Qualifications:
- Practical and technical knowledge within an IT environment, including knowledge of current operating systems, hardware, software applications, installation and troubleshooting.
- Systems analysis skills.
- Excellent technical problem-solving and analytical skills for development, software, databases, application security and cyber security.
- Strong proficiency in software design principles, patterns, and architectural styles.
- In-depth knowledge of various programming languages, frameworks, and technologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of software development processes, best practices, and methodologies including quality assurance testing and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Software development skills using .Net, Visual Studio, and other software development technologies and techniques as applicable.
- Experience with cloud computing, microservices architecture, and containerization.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- Security and cyber security
- Knowledge in implementing Single Sign On (SSO) solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDE) such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HTML, XML, CSS, Scripting languages, and cross-platform web accessibility standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills to provide technical information and solutions to the college community.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions while considering business objectives.
DBA Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Database Architect or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of database management systems, both relational (e.g. MS SQL) and (non-relational) NoSQL.
- Proficiency in data modelling and database design concepts.
- Strong understanding of database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge and experience with database related security practices (policy and processes) and privacy principles.
- Experience with database administration and backup/recovery strategies.
- Experience with system integration.
- Proficiency in scripting languages for automation (e.g., SQL, Python, PowerShell).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with cloud-based database services.
- Practical and comprehensive knowledge of database design, implementation, and maintenance in different deployment environments.
Details:
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 3 years related experience
- Software development experience (both web and non-web based)
- Database development experience
- Analyst experience
- Database certifications (such as SQL Server, Oracle)
- MS and/or Azure Developer Certifications
Salary Range: $71,326 - $83,433 per annum
