NSO returns to MHC
The end of summer means new beginnings for Medicine Hat College (MHC) as it gears up to welcome students for fall 2023.
“On behalf of Medicine Hat College, I am pleased to welcome back both new and returning students as they embark on another exciting academic year. I look forward to our hallways and classrooms being filled with excitement once again, as students set out to reach their academic and career goals,” says Kevin Shufflebotham, MHC president and CEO.
Prior their first day of classes, new students will be given opportunities to become orientated with MHC, with Strike First and New Student Orientation (NSO).
Strike First is a drop-in event on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Those attending can take a tour, find their class schedule, purchase their textbooks and parking pass, and ask questions, all before their first day.
NSO will then provide learners with important information about their program and student supports and services, including academic coaching, writing support, library services, mental health and counselling, and more.
“We understand that starting a new program can feel overwhelming at first, so NSO is really designed to ensure students are provided a way to connect with their classmates and instructors and know where to find support when they need it,” says admissions and recruitment coordinator, Landon Heilman, who encourages all new students to attend.
NSO is separated into two parts:
- Part 1 (online) – Available Aug. 22 to Sept. 4.
- Part 2 (in-person) - On Sept. 5, 2023 at Brooks and Medicine Hat campuses.
New students will be sent the link to access NSO to their MHC email. The first day of classes for all students is Sept. 6, 2023.
