High School Art Show returns to MHC
Works of art created by local artistic youth are on display at Medicine Hat College’s (MHC) One-on-One Gallery from Feb. 5-22, with the 2024 High School Art Show.
Art teachers from Crescent Heights, Eagle Butte, Medicine Hat, and Monsignor McCoy High Schools have chosen their students’ best works, which are now professionally curated in the gallery by MHC art & design instructor and program coordinator, Yulin Wang.
“There are over 80 pieces of art that have been selected for the show, each demonstrating the talent we have here in Medicine Hat,” says Wang, who hopes to see many continue their artistic careers.
A public reception will be held on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m., where the high school students can be celebrated by friends, family, and community members. Best works will be chosen and awarded by faculty at the reception with first, second, and third place winners and two honourable mentions, each receiving a gift certificate to the MHC Bookstore.
Faculty and current students will be available at the reception for prospective students to ask questions about the art and design program and take tours of classrooms and art studios throughout the evening.
The One-on-One Gallery is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., for those interested in viewing the works on their own time.
