Medicine Hat College offers affordable facility access to community groups, particularly local non-profit clubs, societies or organizations that sponsor recreational, cultural or educational activities. The college is a smoke-free facility and is wheelchair accessible. Whether looking to organize a special event, book a meeting space or host a large conference or workshop, we're here to help.
Bookable Spaces
Our Medicine Hat and Brooks campuses offers several tiered lecture halls with fixed seating in addition to numerous traditional classrooms. These spaces are equipped with audio and visual equipment to support lectures and meetings.
Typical classroom space includes desks, chairs, whiteboard, screen, computer video projector, computer, internet access/ network connection, overhead projector, and lectern.
Please note: The majority of Medicine Hat campus classrooms have a SMART board. A few classrooms have a phone line and are video conference/ teleconference capable.
Courtyard
- Features podium, internet access/ network connection, phone line, windows, screen. Round or rectangular table and chair set up upon request.
Crowfoot Room
- Features podium, internet access/ network connection, phone line, windows, screen, whiteboard, overhead projector, computer video projector and computer. Table and chair set-ups by request only.
Brooks Campus Room 111
- Features podium, internet access/ network connection, phone line, windows, and screen.
Eresman Theatre
- Our theatre provides an exceptional venue for music, theatre, dance, and community presentations. From staging world-renowned performers at the Medicine Hat JazzFest or the phenomenal talent of our very own Conservatory of Music and Dance, the Eresman Theatre is a cultural hub in our community.
Recital Hall
- Located in the Cultural Centre, the Recital Hall provides an intimate space for small performances. The stage area is approximately 50 square feet.
Centennial Hall
- The main entrance of the Medicine Hat College, Centennial Hall, includes a glassed cuboid with lounge chairs, as well as raised tables and chairs. An art collection, titled “CX Configurations – 4 seasons,” can also be found in the space. This collection was donated by a former visual communications instructor.
One on One Gallery
- The Gallery hosts shows monthly and is open to the public. Click here to learn more about the One on One Gallery.
Brooks Campus
- The main entrance of the Brooks Campus includes two seating areas with couches and chairs. The open foyer allows for events of all kinds. The long hallways can accommodate artwork for an art gallery.
The Medicine Hat Campus features a gymnasium as well as a new, state-of-the-art Fitness Centre.
The Fitness Centre is now open in the G Wing!
Access is free for MHC students and employees, with memberships and day passes available for purchase for community members wishing to utilize the facility.
The gymnasium -- known as the “Snake Pit” when the Rattlers compete -- is equipped for basketball, volleyball, futsal, and badminton. In its sporting role, the facility is also used for open recreation and fitness testing.

- Seating capacity is 1,500 (including pull out bleachers with seating for 500)

The Brooks Campus offers a fitness room with equipment ranging from treadmills, TRX bands, and numerous weights. They also offer fitness classes for free to students, staff, and faculty. An outdoor basketball court exists on the north side of the campus.
Sunrise Rotary Trail
- A 3.5 km interactive, landscaped trail, runs the perimeter of campus and is linked to Kin Coulee trails. When completed, it will feature interpretive signs, benches, fitness equipment and viewing areas. Students have been involved in the trail from planning to planting, and the trail will be used as a resource for many courses.
The Teaching Garden
- Partially funded by a contribution from the Medicine Hat Horticultural Society, provides a relaxing outdoor learning environment. Adjacent to the Trades Wing and Vera Bracken Library, this living classroom is also intended to provide a place of relaxation and social interaction for the entire community.
- Home to a rose garden, sun garden and shade garden, the design of this space demonstrates landscaping possibilities that are low maintenance and appropriate for Medicine Hat’s climate. Seating and lighting elements offer a unique gathering spot that is welcoming at any hour.
The Xeriscape Demonstration Garden
- Located on the northeast side of the main college building, is intended to educate homeowners about alternatives to traditional landscaping and showcase a variety of plants and practices that are environmentally friendly. In addition to a variety of drought tolerant or low maintenance trees, shrubs and flowers, the garden features several unique architectural elements including a pergola, bridge, and dry stream.
- Visitors to the garden may notice the oriental-inspired design, which is reflected by prominent structural features like the pergola and bridge. These elements were selected to demonstrate the college’s ties with its international partners, particularly those in China and Japan.
