Dr. Forbes' unique pedagogical practice is based on using the creative powers of students to co-construct meaning with her, as an instructor, for the purpose of helping others to learn. She loves working on topics that heighten student curiosity and foster collaboration. Teaching at Medicine Hat College has always given Forbes the creative freedom to follow lines of inquiry that heighten complexity and wade into chaos. To date she has taught art histories, critical theory, art education. has supervised Visual Communications field experience students. She has many peer reviewed published works in areas of art and education, and has exhibited artwork in Canada and the USA. Her work is represented in several permanent collections including the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Permanent Collection and the Esplanade Art Collection. Forbes has received arts grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canada Council for the Arts. Forbes loves to make collaborative art projects that explore future directions for humans and other species on our planet.
