Stacey Miner has over 25 years experience as an educator in classrooms from Early Learning to High School, and Adult Education. As a teacher mentor, she encourages others to become forward-thinking change leaders who excel when taking on complex projects that allow identification of areas in need of improvement and the development of creative solutions. Known for her student-focused, coaching approach and expertise in understanding needs, she firmly establishes best practices. Stacey is passionate about literacy and believes that learning to read is not a privilege, but a basic and essential human right. Literacy is involved in all aspects of life and is a critical indicator of life quality. In her classes, future teachers can expect to learn about the most recent research in the Science of Reading coupled with examples from her lived experiences in the classroom. Fundamentally, with the use of evidence-based practices, all students can learn to read and be successful. Stacey is also dedicated to using neuroscience to understand student needs, as well as potential, in varying scenarios. By understanding typical developmental trajectories, trauma-based brain changes, and physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments, we can better support all students. In her personal time, Stacey volunteers as an advocate and educator for a mental health skill building group and is working at training a beautiful yellow lab named Josie, who will be a service dog for a family member.
