Beginner's French I

This is a course for students with little to no previous background in French. This course will acquaint students with the fundamental parts of the French language and will build communicative competence in reading, writing, listening comprehension, and speaking. By the end of this course, students will be able to ask and answer questions, compose simple sentences, and express themselves in basic French. The course consists of an extensive exploration of the rich culture of French and the Francophone world. NOTE: Not to be taken by students with native or near native proficiency in French, or with credit in French 30 or French 31 or their equivalents in Canada and other countries. NOTE: Students cannot receive credit for both FREN 200 and FREN 1109.
