Medicine Hat College brings the MyCreds virtual wallet to more students in Southern Alberta

July 2, 2021

Medicine Hat College (MHC), as a member of the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC), has joined the MyCreds™️ National Network to deliver and receive documents for students and alumni through the secure, centralized credential wallet. MHC students now have 24/7 access to the documents they need most.

Providing pathways and access are central to the Medicine Hat College student experience. As a smaller, regional post-secondary, MHC recognizes the efficiencies in process the MyCreds™️ National Network brings which allow our Registrar Office processes to work at their best. MHC sees this change as an exciting opportunity to increase the speed and ease of which their students can access their documents – taking them wherever they want to go.

“MyCreds™️ allows students to have the services they need accessible when they need them. While we have a strong provincial network, students now have the ability to access that same level of service no matter where, or when they need their documents,” says Sandy Henderson, Dean of Student Services/Registrar. “Medicine Hat College students continue to learn and work all over the world. Having the flexibility and ease to receive an official and verified record of your learning no matter where you are is reflective of the forward thinking, progressive institution we are and want to be for our students.”

Documents issued through MyCreds™️ come directly from MHC and are tamper-evident and cryptographically signed, making them authentic and official. Students can securely and conveniently access and share their academic documents with other colleges and universities, government, employers and third parties.

Implementing the MyCreds™️ virtual wallet aligns with the concept of putting the student first. Medicine Hat College plans to issue and receive transcripts immediately, followed by parchments and badges in the coming year. MHC joins several Alberta colleges and universities on the National Network, including SAIT, Bow Valley College, the University of Lethbridge, the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta, with many more to come. Students will benefit from advanced technology, opportunity and mobility as the reach of the network grows – MHC is proud to officially be a part of it!
