Began teaching at MHC: 2008
I have fostered experiential learning and nature education as key aspects to engage learners in my classes, making my teaching practice unique. I believe in providing practical methods for learners to apply in lifelong learning opportunities to maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle, particularly in my applied learning courses focused on biomechanical applications to athletic performances.
Teaching at MHC brings me great joy because it offers me the freedom to be creative and flexible in my instruction. I am able to encourage students to innovate and challenge themselves to reach their personal best academically and personally.
In my classroom, students can expect an interactive and engaging learning environment. I encourage participation and open questioning to explore and challenge various aspects of the subject matter that intrigue them, empowering them to achieve greater endeavors.
My relevant research and achievements have had a positive impact on my students. Through my research in Outdoor Education expeditions and Biomechanics of sport, I have developed and shared relevant case studies within my discipline. These case studies have provided valuable insights, such as better technical advancements in older adult fall risk assessment and increased knowledge about personal physical activities for healthier cardiovascular and respiratory living.
When I'm not teaching, I find solace in spending time in nature with my family. Additionally, I indulge in my love for hay farming, as it allows me to connect with the land and appreciate the beauty of agriculture.
Overall, I strive to create a unique and engaging learning experience for my students by incorporating experiential learning, fostering a love for nature, and encouraging personal growth and innovation.
