Student Services is welcoming applications for a full-time regular Manager, Indigenous Engagement and Student Supports. This role will be based at our Medicine Hat College campus with occasional travel to our Brooks campus.
A little about the role:
As Manager, Indigenous Engagement and Student Supports your primary areas of responsibility for the position are to provide strategic and administrative leadership, the overall functioning, and performance of the office of Indigenous Initiatives and student Supports. It also facilitates the implementation and oversight of the institutional Indigenous Strategy in collaboration with various college and external stakeholders.
Functionally, the position, leads in the development and execution of success strategies for Indigenous learners at Medicine Hat College and for developing and maintaining relationships with external Indigenous communities and organizations in collaboration with college units, in accordance with the goals outlined and in alignment with MHC’s strategic plan.
Details:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field(s) OR an equivalent combination of related Post-Secondary education and work experience (a graduate degree would be considered an asset).
- A minimum of five years of related experience within Post-Secondary or another related industry is required.
- Supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of Canadian Indigenous history and culture is a requirement.
- Highly developed collaboration, demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse indigenous communities and promote inclusion.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; demonstrated public speaking skills.
- Experience working in a Post-Secondary environment, including experience with Indigenous learners and a strong understanding of the barriers and challenges faced.
- Valid driver's license
