Services and Supports
MHC’s Indigenous Engagement & Student Supports office provides a safe and supportive environment for Indigenous students and connects them to college and community resources like financial aid and wellness.
It also assists with the education and integration of Indigenous culture on campus by hosting guest speakers, workshops, and events that increase awareness and understanding of Indigenous issues, traditions, and history within the college and community.
Now located in Co-op Wellness Commons (G Wing), Indigenous Engagement and Support Services are located across from Ómahksípiitaa, MHC's new cultural gathering space dedicated to Indigenous teaching, learning and events. The space formally received its name, which means Big Eagle, from Blackfoot Elders at a special naming ceremony in Fall 2022, and has been a hub of cultural education and connection ever since.
Services include:
- Connection to Elders and Knowledge Keepers
- Cultural and spiritual advising
- Access to financial support
- Shared study space
- Access to sacred medicines
- Cultural events
- Resource room
